Vacation Rentals

I know it's February....but I just found out that our plan for a week down the shore this August got cancelled by the home-owner. Which sucks, because we weren't going to be charged to use the place, but things happen.

Anyway - my family is looking for a place to go for a week in August. Preferably near the water. 6-7 people. I've never really rented out a place for that many people, so I don't even know where to begin. It would be nice if we could find someplace that has multiple bedrooms in it, a kitchen, living area, etc. Doesn't necessarily have to be a private home. Any one have any good ideas/thoughts/suggestions? It doesn't even have to be in NJ, but not terribly far either.

Any advice would be welcomed! TIA!

Re: Vacation Rentals

  • I have used homeaway.com for Cape Cod and the Poconos and have always been happy with the houses.

  • I was gonna suggest the Outer Banks in North CArolina... but is that farther than you want to go?

its a beautiful down there, with TONS of rental houses that can fit a lot of people. Some of them that have 10 bedrooms, elevators, media rooms... the beach is gorgous down there- just a relaxing place to spend a week with the family :-)

  • We just booked a house in Rohoboth Beach, DE.  5br, 3ba, private home with a pool about a 1/2 mile from the beach.  Last year we booked a week in Sandbridge, VA. Both years we used real estate agents to book our rentals.  Have fun!

  • We used aribnb.com last year to book an apartment in Iceland and it was great.  I know they list places around the world.

  • Well Iceland is definitely out & I think NC may be a little too far too, but Delaware could be do-able. I will definitely check out those websites & ideas! Thanks!
