AW! And decorating question.
Natalie's big girl room stuff is on the way! So excited because I took forever to pick stuff out. We finally went with this:
PBK Gabrielle bedding and accessories:
Quilt/ shams etc., sheets, rug, "dream" pinboard, curtains & rod, and a similar but not the exact same dust ruffle.
We went with the Madeline furniture:
Canopy bed, nightstand, and extra wide dresser.
It should be here this week! YAY! However, that means I have to get my ass in gear and clean out that guest room now, including the closet that has mountains of stuff in it that has no other logical home. Should be good times.
My question is: We plan to mimic the first pic's look as much as possible but I'm not sure we have the hardware or skill to do real beadboard. I know a couple of people have done it on here. How expensive is it? Where did you get your beadboard from? Was it easy? My dad has excellent carpentry skills and my brother is a construction manager, so they could help for sure.
My other option is to do paintable beadboard wallpaper just in case we want something less permanent or end up hating it (which could happen.) We would do a legit actual chair rail over the wallpaper, which gets really good reviews on lowes.com. Any experience with this?

We bought white beadboard panels from Home Depot. I don't remember the price, but it wasn't expensive. My father used brad nails to put them up. It seemed pretty easy for him to do. I wouldn't know where to start, but he was able to do it in the kitchen and bathroom in just a couple of visits. The panels are primed, and should be painted again. I did paint in the bathroom, and honestly it looks the same as the unpainted part, so eh.
I know nothing of putting up wallpaper.

I thought our own KatieK had done beadboard, but I'm guessing by her reply that I have that wrong. I would ask over on D&R, they may know or may be able to point you in the direction of a blog that has instructions.

I think you guys can definitely handle beadboard. I've never done it but the panels seems pretty cheap at Lowes. Once you have your panels cut, just nail them up and then patch your holes/caulk, and paint. As someone said, a nail gun would make this very easy!
Thanks for the help, girls... and also for the compliments! It took me so long to figure out what to do. Since we were Team Green for her birth, the nursery was neutral and I really felt like this was my chance to decorate a room for her to sort of make up for that, if that makes sense. Gotta love tax returns.
I talked to my dad a little about the beadboard today and he says it's no biggie, so we'll see which direction I go with it. Thanks for the advice!!
