10 Weeks to go and still no nursery lol

So I have not done anything for the baby room : ( just not motivated yet. My back has been bothering me and just cant seem to decide on furnitures. I have a few in mind but can't decide where to order it from (online/store). Room is painted already ever since we moved in, luckily my favorite color is blue and now we're having a boy : ) but I do want to make some changes like adding a chair rail and maybe changing the color on the bottom or top. Please tell me some of you had waited this late to start your baby nursery too so I don't feel to bad not being productive lol.

I have my baby shower end of this month, so thats also part of the reason why I feel like I should wait lol.

  • I had my DD 51/2 weeks early. So, I ordered her crib on a Fri. my baby shower was that Sat. As soon as I got home from the baby shower I went into labor. She was born at 2:13 Sun morning. So I had no crib, only the diapers I got from my baby shower (that were still in the gift bags) and nothing set up. One of my friends gave me a portable bassinet to put her in until the furniture cane in 2 weeks later. I was no where near ready! LOL
  • Ok thats it Im ordering the crib right now, lol. I know I tell myself that too, "I must be insane, what if he comes earlier than expected?" lol but I just can't get myself to hit that order button when I do see one online. I feel like I have to go see the item in person first then when I do I contemplate if I should go ahead and get it or order online lmao. I know I'm crazy and a big procrastinator lol

I went through 5 cribs/3 different styles, before settling on her "final" crib. What if the crib arrives damaged? lol.... I received 3 damaged cribs before telling Graco to go screw.

ETA: I ordered 2 from JCPenny and they were both flawless! The only reason why I didn't keep the first was b/c we decided on a white crib after we found out she was a girl. I highly recommend JCP, if any of their cribs are on your list.

  • In all honesty, a nursery is not a necessity when a baby is born.  As long as you have somewhere for him to sleep (bassinet, etc), food, clothes, and a pacifier if he's into that sort of thing, he'll be a happy camper.  Q didn't start sleeping in his crib until he was 3 months and that was just naps.  I transitioned him to sleeping in his crib at night when he was 4 months.

thats what I was told too, maybe thats why Im not motivated yet lol but I know I should work on it before its too late that I have no more energy for it and gets too busy.

  • Kim is right but I could not have imagined trying to get it done with how often I was nursing Lila. :)

These were pretty much my exact words on Wednesday :-)

  • Yeah, I didn't switch Macy over into her crib until 5 months.

But I would get on it girl!  These next 10 weeks are going to fly by :)

  • Chloe has been in your nursery once. LOL You have time, although her nursery was ready by 30 weeks. I just didn't want to deal with it once she was already here.

  • 10 weeks is plenty of time, and everyone is right, you don't need a nursery right away, just a quiet place to nurse.  But, don't plan on having any extra time for that stuff after he arrives, at least not for awhile.  If I manage to get in a shower or get one picture in her baby book in a day I feel like I've been amazingly productive.

  • We moved when I was 32 weeks, so we didn't have a nursery before then!  We had all the furniture set up and clothes washed by 35 weeks.  I'm so happy we did that, because she came at 36 1/2 weeks.  There's no way I would have the time or energy to set up her nursery now.  We still need to make the decorations (all the supplies are bought and here) and I have no idea when that will finally get done.

  • I had the basics set up, thanks to my mom, by Feb 14th. She was born on the 17th, lol! Our house is so small, so we used the changing pad often in there, but that's about it. I added some decorations after she was born, but I was glad the main stuff was done beforehand.
