Has anyone done Mt. Kilimanjaro?
If so which route did you do (how long did it take), what time of year was it and if you were to do it again what would you change?
The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.

Friends and I climbed in late June early July of 2008, I think it took us 5 or 6 days. I loved it! We climbed with what is now Dream Wild Expeditions. www.dreamwildexpeditions.com. Nixon was our guide and was extremely knowledgeable. It was not peak season then and the guides said the mountain is much more enjoyable then. We took the Machame route and climbed the Western Breech. We spent did not spend the night in the crater but just below the breech. We did leave at 1 a.m. for the climb as it was safer to climb the breech at night when the rocks were more stable. It was a long day to summit that way but I don't think I would have been able to climb the breech during the day (not a fan of being able to look down).
We made the most of our trip by going on safari for 2 days before the climb and then spent 4 days on Zanzibar after the climb. After the climb our bodies needed time to recuperate and the beaches of Zanzibar were great!
