Can I whine?

Yesterday the hospital that I want to deliver at called me as a follow up to my pre-registration. It's this freaking amazing new birthing center attached to the children's hospital- state of the art luxury and top facilities. They were supposed to open March 1. Well it's now pushed back to March 26. 5 days before I'm due. So, I have to make alternate arrangements just in case. While I may still deliver there I have to set my cerclage removal elsewhere (37 weeks)

Well the other options suck a bit. One is the place I delivered Dagger. The birth was fine. I would be ok delivering there again but won't do the cerclage removal there. If you all remember their OB floor and OB surgery got into a war over doing my procedure because I didn't get anesthesia so they refused to assist. I had no nurse help, no prep, my OB even had to transport me there. So that won't work for me.

The other option is where I will have to have my cerclage although I do not want to birth there (which I may not have control over since the procedure could result in labor). The problem is its old and dank. It's the one being replaced by the new place. No tubs in most rooms. No windows and low ceilings in the labor rooms. I felt claustrophobic in it. But worst of all they have some semi private rooms. I would potentially have a roommate and Mr. Winged could not stay overnight. And if I was lucky to get a private room, I have to pay 94 bucks per day for it.

Re: Can I whine?

  • That does suck, but it doesn't sound like there's much you can do about it. Is there any reason to believe the same issues would exist at hospital 2 again, now that you know it is a concern and can coordinate in advance?
  • That rots. I don't like uncertainly, especially about things like that.

Well there is no guarantee. I am not sure my doctor would be willing either. I have never been so mistreated. I am not sure I would feel comfortable with any assurance.
  • I don't think I'd go back to a hospital that mistreated me either. I'm sorry, that's got to be a really stressful thing to deal with.

  • Ugh, Winger that blows.

If it were me, I'd push to get the cerc undone at the nicer place and see how that goes. But I know that's a huge amount of stress you might not want to take on.

    ::big hugs::

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • Maybe you should just go birth your baby out in the wilderness instead? Find yourself a nice birthin' spot near a stream somewhere.

  • Ugh, sorry Winged. I hate when you just feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. I really hope things turn out well despite the run around. I can't believe you're going to be birthing so soon!

Be sure to bring your birthing gong.

Sorry about the crappy situation, Winged.

Don't be ridiculous. Gongs are for weddings. For birthings we use an oboe. Babies find it soothing.

  • OK, I thought about it some more so I called the platinum patient care lady at the hospital that effed up last time and left a message to see if they can give me some assurance that they won't do the same.

ETA: I was typing too fast. My last line should say, "I think this is a good approach. Tits!"

I think this is probably the best idea. I would have been livid about it happening the first time, but with precoordination it may still be the best bet.
