F/U to Baby Shower Issue

My friend e-mailed me saying that she, her husband and daughter are coming.  In her words, "M seems to have gotten over his illness.....I still have hives-miserable, uncomfortable, and itcy."

I talked to her and told her that I really don't want them to get me or the guests sick.  And she totally blew it off.

::le sigh::

Re: F/U to Baby Shower Issue

  • That's crap. I would, unfortunately, not go anywhere near her or her family and just tell her again you really can't afford to get sick right now.

    I really wish people would just suck it up at times like this and realize that the responsible, adult decision would be to stay home.

  • Wow..I'm really surprised that she would still go and be near a pregnant woman being so sick....  I would be sure to keep your distance at your shower.  Just wave from afar and say unfortunately you have to stay away...docs orders!   Hopefully she'll be better by then, when is your shower? And hopefully she will no longer be contagious!!!  Can't wait to see pics!!!

  • sorry to hear that mel - people can be selfish and not see past their own wants sometimes, forgetting the impact they make on others. hopefully she'll not take it so harshly when you aren't shaking hands or handing out hugs.

    Ditto this, and Rebecka's suggestion of saying you have to stay away Dr.'s orders! Sorry to hear she blew you off Super Angry Some people don't put themselves in the other person's shoes- I would imagine she would've felt the same way when she was pregnant. Good luck steering clear!

  • Ugh, sorry she's being so inconsiderate! Why she would want to come if she is "miserable, uncomfortable & itchy" is beyond me. Hopefully whatever she has isn't contagious and you can just steer clear of her for the party!

  • That's soo bizarre that she wouldn't respect your opinion on this.  And if she's so miserable, she should be glad to stay home!  I hope it's nothing catchy, and I hope it doesn't ruin your day.  Just say a prayer and enjoy your shower.
  • Wow.  That's pretty selfish and rude on her part.
