No Taylor Swift for Les Miserables!
Re: No Taylor Swift for Les Miserables!
Thank goodness!!! To say I'm not a fan is a huge understatement. No way in hell she could have pulled off Eponine.

100% agreed..
I still don't get the hype over Taylor Swift.. IMHO her songs are awful and all pretty much sound the same and her voice isn't that great. She doesn't stand apart from other artists as "Wow that girl can sing!" I guess is what I'm trying to say. I feel like she is just mediocre and way over-hyped.

Kanye West accidentally made her so popular. She annoys me and I want to send her to the moon with all the Kardashians.

Uh, she was super popular before the whole Kanye thing happened. I don't understand all the Taylor hate. Is she the best singer in the world? No, of course not. I do think she is talented though and I think it's awesome that she writes her own songs, not many artists do that anymore. She is a great role model for young girls and is very gracious. I don't have kids yet, but if I did I would rather them look up to Taylor Swift then Miley Cyrus or most of the other celebrities that are her age. And seriously? The Kardashians are on a whole other level.
I like Taylor Swift for what she does; country pop. To imagine her trying to belt out ''On My Own'' makes me squirm though. Totally agree; she is nowhere near as awful as the Kardashians.
I am just inordinately pleased that they cast two people who can actually sing in the cast. Hugh Jackman has a strong musical theater background as does the girl who was finally cast as Eponine.
I am glad though that they are not casting her. I don't hate her, I just don't really care for her singing and not sure why everyone is crazy about her because to me she is not that great of a singer. Sometimes I wonder what Simon would have told her if she was on American Idol or X Factor.
Living in Nashville you get tired of hearing about her. She might be good to her fans, but after a while it gets annoying, not as bad as the Kardashians, yet. Though her hype on our news and radio station is going down lately as you don't hear about her as much.
This news made my day yesterday.
I've wanted a Les Miserable (musical) movie for so long! I loved the casting of Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, but when I read the list of actresses being considered for Eponine, I actually groaned with horror. Scarlett Johannson, Lea Michelle, Evan Rachel Wood and Taylor Swift?! I was not happy. Then I read something recently that Taylor Swift was going to play the role (which made me happier than Scarlett Johannson and Lea Michelle, but still not very happy). I felt the part should go to a talented non-star rather than putting someone in the role just because they're famous.
I think Taylor Swift is just OK. I don't like her music and I don't like her voice. In both respects, I don't get the hype. I think it's admirable she writes her own songs, but on the other hand, I don't think they're good so I'm not terribly impressed. I do think she seems like a sweet girl and isn't photographed without underwear or passed out in the passenger seat of a car or anything.
So yeah, I'm really happy for this girl and am now much more excited to see this movie!
I love Taylor Swift. In fact, I frequently belt out her songs in my car. That said, Eponine is not a role she could have played.
Super excited about who they picked. Samantha Barks is amazingly talented.
And I had no idea Anne Hathaway could sing. Clearly I live under a rock.
Snow!
