**Mediators in Harford County???**

Can anyone recommend mediators in Harford County. I found the name of Chris Van Roden online but he would just charge us $250 just for an inital visit. I found this to be a tad extreme, but I'm not sure how this works.

Re: **Mediators in Harford County???**

  • Can you go through the courts?  I don't know really too much about needing them but I feel like (depending upon the situation) the court sometimes provides them.

  • That is the going rate.  I know 2 people with personal experience with Chris.  Both are good, one started with him late (had another atty first) but overall good experiences.

If you're talking about child support mediation, then i'd recommend him.  He's knowledgable.  He can be a bit abrasive but it's more of a matter of fact kind of personality.  He tells it how it is, tells you what to and not to do and some people need that kind of direction.

Judges (at least in harco) don't take kindly to custody cases and it is highly recommended to work it out in mediation.  There is a mediator with the county who is also really good, but I think you go through attorneys to get those appts, but i'm not sure.

  • I agree with Kelley, that seems to be the going rate and if you are dealing with child custody, trust me when I tell you that is much, much less than you will spend if you have to get a lawyer and go to court. DH and his ex just worked with Kathryn Rogers. She was court appointed through the Office of Child and Family Services, but they still had to pay for her. In 2 sessions she got DH and ex to agree. That is a minor miracle after the year we had had. I'm not sure if Mrs Rogers works with anyone or just those that come through the courts but if you would like her info I would be happy to pass it on. Good luck!

  • Chris was my lawyer last time STBX left. Totally worth every penny. Very knowledgable, very upfront and honest. I'm considering going back to him again (gotta figure out the money aspect)
