Do you know of Legitimate Work from Home companies!

The last three years have been very challenging  to find a job with some stability, and growth opportunity. I've had several jobs but have been downsized due to a reduction in force, temp jobs, or I've discovered the job was not what I expected. At this time,I'm really looking to pursue something of interest and also looking for  something flexible that will still allow me to pursue my areas of interest and bring in some additional income. Therefore, I've been considering "Work from Home jobs" but am finding it difficult to find legitimate companies.  Does anyone know of legitimate companies that are hiring people interested in working from home? A website, company name or helpful tips would be more that appreciated?

 thanks for help in advance

  • Go to the Stay at Home Moms board on the Bump. They have an FAQ with links to SAH jobs.

  • Rather than focus on WAH jobs I'd look for jobs that match you skills (which you don't mention) that are known to be supportive of remote employees or flexible schedules. A PT job might be a great fit for you as might contract work.

I WAH but my company wouldn't come up in any sort of working at home job searches. I  work for a rather traditional company that has allowed about 10% of its work force to work remote. I have fairly normal hours (9-6 + some evening catch up) though I do have some flexibility in my day (I can start a bit early or late, make up time after hours, take an early or late lunch etc). The biggest advantage is that I don't have to commute. Since I'd like commute 45 each way that is a big time savings that is really important to me since I have small children. Though now it is not an issue since we have a nanny once the kids go to daycare or school I'd need to leave an office by 5:00 to get home to pick them up. If I work from home I can be online until 5:45.

  • Totally agree with hocus. I WAH as well but my company also wouldn't come up in any work at home job searches. I've been surprised at the # of "traditional" companies which allow their employees the flexibility to work at home.
  • I work for a health insurance company and there are lots of telecommuting positions available, so as the others said - maybe look into that rather than actual "work from home" companies.

  • If you have the desire, drive and dedication you can make a direct sales business work for a full time at home job. I sell scentsy and thirty-one gifts but there are tons of direct sales companies out there. If you want more info, you can message me :)

So what you're essentially saying is that you want a job that allows you to work whenever it's convenient for you and when you feel like it, and you don't want to have to leave your house to do it.

    Good luck with that.
