Now what?

Our house has been on the market for a week. Now what? Wait till anyone wants to see it? Our relator hasn't said anything about an open house and I wonder if it is bc our house is in more of a rural setting. DH and I have made fliers and put them up at places in the area for ppl to see.

Re: Now what?

  • What part of PA are you in? We're looking in Bucks County but our agent has a few listings in rural areas. I'm not sure they do as many open houses in rural areas since the traffic probably wouldn't be as heavy.

As far as next steps, I would do some light staging if you haven't already and try to make the house look great. You could also ask your agent if they plan on scheduling and OH.

Keep in mind that spring market is just beginning, so you'll probably get more interest in the next few weeks.

  • Nowhere close to Bucks County.... Near Harrisburg-ish. We have definitely decluttered and done as much staging as possible with 2u2. I have taken down all but two personal pics ( I don't know what to put in it's place- one being over the fireplace). Would it be better to have a screw in the wall but no picture, or a small hole with no screw? Or do you think it is important enough to fill those holes and then paint? I didn't realize how many personal pics we had up till we took them down!

  • I think it's fine to have a few personal pictures up, especially if they're nice ones. There was one house that had a gorgeous picture frame with a wedding photo on the mantle and it really drew attention to the fireplace. I would pick the nicest one and leave it up.
