Cycle/ 2WW question

Hey Guys- question for my coworker. She recently came off the pill, is feeling kinda uneasy/nausea.  She was tracking her days and such. I told her that i know there is a waiting period that you guys have talked about and after that you can take PG test.  CAn you help me explain when the 2 WW is in layman terms?  I myself am CLUELESS on the whole thing all together.  TIA :)

Re: Cycle/ 2WW question

  • Uh huh.  A "friend".  Sure.  LOL

Tell her to check out www.fertilityfriend.com  and sign up for an account to track her cycles.  It takes a few months of charting to figure out your cycles.

She needs to be able to identify exactly when she's ovulating by taking her temp first thing in the morning with a basal thermometer, and then can figure out how long her luteal phase is, which is the time after ovulation and before your period starts.  Although there is a wide range of LPs among women, each individual woman usually has around the same LP from one cycle to the next, regardless of which day she ovulates on.  For example, my LP was always 13-14 days, even though I o'd anywhere from day 13-17.  So for me, I knew if it was 15 days since I ovulated, I would have good reason to take a pregnancy test.

ETA: The LP is referred to as the 2ww because it assumes that for most women, their LP is about 2 weeks.  This may or may not be true for any individual women.  Some have LP's as short as 10-11 days.  (If it's 10 or less, it can signal too low progesterone levels).
