OCEOLA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 34-year-old Oceola Township woman is facing abuse and torture charges, accused of causing horrific injuries to her 3-year-old step-grandson.
Sara Rae Walters has been charged with 1st degree Child Abuse and Torture. She was arrested following a three month investigation.
Police say that the three-year-old boy was admitted to the University of Michigan Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on October 21, 2011 with more than 60 different injuries. These included superficial lacerations and contusions, a subdural hematoma and a core body temperature of just 88 degrees.
Police have not released any details on how the injuries occured.
Walters is locked up in the Livingston County Jailon $200,000 bond. She faces life in prison if convicted.

Sometimes I feel like people who don't deserve to be parents are the ones who are always pregnant. I know of 3 pregnant girls right now that smoke and drink while pregnant and all of them have no jobs and other children they already don't provide for. Ugh sorry it gets me mad.
I completely agree with you!!!! It is seriously something I cannot stand after my sister died after having a baby. Seeing people who don't deserve to be mothers just makes me so angry.

totally agree! its just not right! I don't know how these people can hurt anyone like this let alone children. Its so sad and It gets me irate! likewise I know people who drink and smoke during their pregnancy as well and I can not believe how selfish they are. What gives them the right to be parents when they are awful parents and the child is not even born yet. We have a license to drive, we are required to go to school to learn. Perhaps- they need to demand parenting classes as well lol

the trial is feb 14th- I hope this poor mother gets justice for her daughter. I cried when I read this. It hits too close to home- Dh & I used to live in this subdivision and I have a little girl as well- I feel awful for that poor mother. Basically what happened while her little girl was away on the weekend visiting her father the step mother sexually and physically abused her and killed her! I hope this bimbo gets what she deserves!
