I also posted this on the Pets board, but I'm wondering how you guys handle your dog when you're going to be out for hours at night. We usually feed him a little and take him out before we go, then give him a little more and take him out again when we get back. Is there another, better, way to make sure he won't be hungry or uncomfortable while we're gone?

Re: BNOTBers with Dogs
We usually take him on a long walk before we go out and another one when we get back. We also try not to go out too much during the week, when he has been home all day by himself already. I'll also try and do a run or hike with him to help burn off some extra energy.
**I will also say that we leave food out all day for him, he doesn't have a set feeding time.**
We have a very strict schedule for our pups and if we're going out for the night, it's usually not before that time.
They're fed at 5:30 pm, then walked shortly after. Just before we leave we let them out into the backyard. If we're going out for a long time at night we leave a toy for them to occupy themselves with.
As soon as we get back we let them out in the yard again; they hardly miss us when they have a toy.
