Any good little kids travel books?

So far I have found the kid travel guides to be for older kids and the books the useless children's librarian recommended were non-fiction boring books.  I would love to read to the kids about places, DS loves looking at travel photography and by 3yo had a list of places he wanted to go.

Re: Any good little kids travel books?

  • I'm a librarian and here are some of my favorites off the top of my head:

Linnea in Monet's Garden (probably my absolute favorite)

    Olivia Goes to Venice

The Three Golden Keys (takes place in Prague-this is a bit more text heavy than some of the other titles I mentioned but still a neat read)

Any of the Dodsworth books (he's a cute character who travels to New York City, Rome, London, and Paris)

I've since thought of some other titles :)

Any of the books by Miroslav Sasek (This is Rome, This is Greece, This is Washington D.C.)

    Madeline

The Paddington books (there's even one entitled Paddington's Guide to London)

Katie and the Mona Lisa and other James Mayhew titles

    Pippo the Fool

La Isla (this takes place in if I remember correctly an unnamed tropical destination, most likely somewhere in the Caribbean, but the illustrations are amazing!)

  • Around the World with Ant and Bee - the book that started it all for me.  It is out of print, but it is an awesome book that made me want to travel.

  • It is not a travel book but it takes place in London and is great - Operation Alphabet. We love the This Is (city) books as well.
