While looking at my health insurance benefits for something completely unrelated I realized that my insurance covers the Gardasil vaccine 100%. Has anyone here had it? My grandfather offered to pay for it for all of us years ago but we never followed up. If you've gotten it, what was your reasoning? If not, same question.
ETA: Just started to do a little research and it looks like it's indicated for girls from 9 - 26. Considering I turn 27 in a month, not really relevant for me.
Re: PW: Gardasil Vaccine
If you are monogomous and trust that your partner is, there is no reason to get it.
Plus, when I was single, my GYN who was a guy said "let me put it this way... I didn't encourage my teenage daughters to get it" because of potential unknown side-effects.
This was basically what I thought but figured I'd ask.
I don't remember ever discussing it with my GYN so I have no idea what her take on it is.
Life is a gift. Be Happy.
My regular doc recommended it b/c I had precancerous cells removed with my LEEP a few years ago. I never discussed it with my GYN since I was already 26 when it was suggested. I think it could be great but it's still such a new vaccine that it's hard to know what could happen.

Personally, I got the first two shots because I was hounded to do so, and then after reading more about the vaccine, I decided not to get the third. The fact that I still get hounded about it just puts me off it more. I read more about it and personally don't get a good feeling about it.
But I'm also one who blows my nose after receiving mandatory flu shots, so...
