Another B-Day Party Question

Since we're on a birthday party roll I have a couple questions, Im debating on what to feed the adults. The place we are having DS's party is a kids place that provides pizza, drinks and snacks for the kids. But I still have the parents and close family members to feed.

I want to stay away from pizza. I was thinking a nice sandwich/wrap platter and a salad platter from Lulu's or an Italian Deli hero, pasta /potato salad. Which would you rather? Or another suggestion?

And 2nd question...What do you put in goodie bags? How much stuff? So far I have snap bracelets, rubber duckies, silly bands, Stickers, mini crayons and coloring book (pocket size), plus Im putting cowboy hats, bandanas and sheriff badges at each place setting. Should I get a few more things for the goodie bags?

Re: Another B-Day Party Question

  • !) i think sandwich hero and macro/potato salad is fine. maybe a tossed salad as well?

    2) IMO i think you have plenty

  • Sandwich/wrap situation sounds good to be. But I will have you know, as the kids get older you will see that many hosts don't provide anything for the parents. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. I think that's crazy but it's true so people are grateful to be served anything.

Regarding goodie bags, I think what you have is good. Don't go crazy. Some other good things are temporary tattoos, those tiny jars of play doh, and bouncy balls.

I have to get them something. Especially since the kids will be playing for 2 hours while the parents hang around. Thats just rude though not to.

And I was thinking of grabbing those 2 things too. Ill pick those up and that will be plenty. They are only 2ish. They won't remember who had good or bad goodie bags yet anyway.

You should feed the parents! I'm amazed that some people don't!

  • Sandwiches sounds great, they are a staple for all our parties, we get them in Mahopac at Grand Central Deli.    I think Goodie bags are good.  Or fruit snack bags maybe.  I wouldn't go crazy either.

  • 1. That sounds delish! Do it! (Since I will be directly benefiting from this decision) LOL

    2. You have plenty for the goody bags. I did them for A's party already and each "bag" has about 6 things in it.

I'm just getting pizza for the adults for A's party. It's easy, and everyone usuallly likes it. I can't believe they are going to be 2!!

  • ditto the sandwich platter.  I wouldn't go crazy with sides, just one type of salad I think is ok.  Most parents don't chow down a ton at these parties.  The last party I went to had sandwich platter for the parents & pizza for the kids (but parents could have pizza too if they wanted).

The goody bag stuff you have already sounds like enough.  For A's 2nd I also had put little baggies of goldfish crackers in.  I always put some kind of cracker/food in the bags.  You could add those or the fruit snacks like navy suggested.
