BWT: Sizing as kids age

So, sizing question.  I know when they're younger (<1) while the sizes are sometimes wonky and don't match their age, you can assume that they are growing quickly enough that you need to size up (or two) for the next full season, etc.

Now that Jane is nearly two (sniff!) she's obviously growing at a much slower rate and I am totally confused what size to get her for Spring/Summer - - and of course I have to get stuff now because if I wait like I normally do nothing will be left.  Right now she's firmly in 2T but wears lots of 3T also (mostly for length).

I got her a ton of stuff at Carter's yesterday (PSA: 40% off everything in store + 20% coupon) and got 3T.  Now I'm worried though that come say July 3T isn't going to cut it but I also can't imagine a 2 year old wearing a 4T?

ANyone with a 2 year old in a 4T?  Do they really wear sizes longer as they age?  Help!

Re: BWT: Sizing as kids age

  • Abby is 3 and wears 3T... occasionally I will get her something in a 4T (usually a shirt)... but just about everything is 3T.  Even some of the 3T pants are too loose in the waist.  Abby is also 95% for height.
  • Alex has been in 3T for a long time, through the summer and still, we aren't ready for 4s. She has thick thighs and a belly, but the pants are just now not too long for her.
  • OK, nice good to know.  Thanks.  I guess I'll keep the 3Ts
  • Keep in mind that with Carters as long as you have the receipt, there's no time limit on returns. This way you can stock up on what you think you'll need and return stuff that doesn't end up working.

  • Natalie wears a 2T in some items like dresses, but wears a 3T in other items for length (she is 36 inches tall, for reference.)  MIL accidentally bought her a 4T in something and she's swimming in it, so I think we'll be in 3T for a good amount of time.  I think Jane will be fine!

  • My kids haven't been in the same size for more than a year. I feel like I'm buying new clothes in bigger sizes every season. Logan just started wearing 3T pants and 4T shirts. He'll be 3 in April. Lincoln doesn't grow as quickly and he's been in 18 months for about 5 months now, we'll see how long this lasts.

I do remember with Lily she could get away with wearing the same size for a really long time and she's the same way now. She wears the same size clothes for almost 2 years before needing a bigger size.

I can't imagine my 2 year old still in12 month size but it looks like that's what it will be she seems to be much slower to grow
