Ayers Rock/Sound of Silence dinner

Anyone who's been to Ayers Rock (Australia), did you do the sound of silence dinner? Do you recommend it? Was it worth the money?

Thanks!

Re: Ayers Rock/Sound of Silence dinner

  • It was lovely. But I didn't know it was $164 per person!

And FYI Ayers Rock is now called Uluru and the Olgas are Kata Tjuta.

  • We did it in August.  I have a few pictures in my blog below of the sunset we saw from the cocktail hour spot.  It really was very lovely.  This isn't something to me that you necessarily do for the food.  The food was okay, but not my favorite.  However, the atmosphere was incredible.  It was nice to meet people from all over the world.  We had dinner with a couple of couples from Spain and a nice family from the UK.  The night we were there the sky wasn't clear which is rare, but it was still worth it in our opinion.  My husband's favorite part was probably the unlimited coke considering how expensive it was at all the restaurants we ate at in Australia.  He also enjoyed the kangaroo.  I opted not to give that a try.
  • I thought it was a cool experience. The stars are obviously different in the Southern Hemisphere and during the dinner we learned a lot about the formations.
