Where should we go on vacation?

DH and I want to go on vacation this summer, but we really don't know where we want to go.  We want something that is less than 3 hour plane ride from the NYC area, not dangerous, and good for small kids.  Essentially, we are looking for some place that we can relax and play with Julia all day.  Any suggestions?

  • Myrtle Beach?

  • St. Louis is a fantastic family city.  The zoo is the biggest and best free zoo in the country (only have to pay for parking, and you can even get around that if you get there early enough in the day), they have a great science museum, botanical garden, you can picnic on the lawn under the arch.  I can't say enough good things about it.

ETA: Also, Grant Farms is just outside the city and has rides and you can see the Budweiser Clydesdales.

  • Topsail, NC!

  • We just booked a trip to Key West- we're renting 3 villas with both of our families. It's 1 block from the main strip (shops and restaurants etc) and 5 blocks from the ocean. We can't wait! Good luck :)

  • If you're looking for a beach, I think anywhere along the Gulf Coast is great for little ones.  The beaches are beautiful, wide, and generally pretty smooth, and the water is calmer than on the Atlantic side.  Gulf Shores, AL and Destin, FL are both great choices, but there are great beaches further south in Florida too.  We tend to go to the Florida/Alabama panhandle because it's a pretty easy drive for us from here.
