Re: Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
DH and I are having our typical lazy Sunday. Mimosas and Spinach and bacon omelet baked in a bread bowl for brunch.
We always do appetizers for dinner for Super Bowl, so this afternoon/tonight's plan is homemade buffalo chicken tenders, potato slabs (kind of like potato skins) and warm crab dip.
@Tinkgril - I love smoked BBQ. My dad also has his own smoker, I get spoiled when I go home in the summer.
Kari, that sounds delicious. I'm eating leftover thai food for breakfast because we're out of eggs, lol.
We're hosting a few friends over for the superbowl, and DH is making chili. The potato slabs sound really good, I'll have to make him add on potato skins or some variation to the planned food.
We need to go to the store to get food for said superbowl. and I need to clean up abit.
Here's the recipe I'm using for the brunch - just replacing kale with spinach since that's what we got in our CSA box today.

i'm watching gossip girl while looking at food that i can't eat.. lol. not eating anything bad today. i can't wait for valentine's day though.. and whatever i decide to make for h that day.. i can't wait to eat something delicious.
Ha, this made me laugh. I'm a sucker for a good pun.
I have no big plans for the Super Bowl. Usually I would get all excited about it and invite people over and make tons of food, but I somehow wish the field in Indy would spontaneously combust and both teams would lose. I do not like Eli Manning and I do not really like the Patriots, plus I was honestly hoping to care about *one* of the teams in the Super Bowl this year (either the Ravens or the 49ers) so I'm ehhh on it.
Also it's supposed to be 70 degrees here today, so I feel like this afternoon will be a great chance to get outdoors without crowds of people because everyone else will be inside watching the Super Bowl.

We're going to my dads...it'll be a big group. They're doing chili (meat & veggie) and a bunch of other things. There will be drinking and fun. Although I don't think anyone is routing for anyone. First, I have to wake DH up. I'm gonna run to the grocery store and make scambled (eggs) tofu w/ potatos and veggies and get some coffee.
Jennlin: there's no one to cheer for. This is th worst pair of teams in a long time...no underdog like the Saints to route for, no bad guy like the Steelers to route against. I think I might go for the Giants though, b/c they're not as annoying as the Pats and we beat them this year, so we can say we beat the SuperBowl champs.
I think you mean since 2008, when they last faced off in the Super Bowl (yes, we were forced to watch this same match-up just four years ago). I was as unexcited then as I am now.
At least New England had a perfect season on the line then (which they obviously did not achieve).

I agree with all of this. The Giants and Patriots pretty much have the same colors, so I'm going to wear purple because I like wearing Husky stuff, and don't care much for either team.
I'm leaving for a friends party in a couple hours. DH made bacon guacamole dip, and a smoked salmon dip. He poo-poo'd my suggestion of veggie chili, but he's a weirdo control freak in the kitchen, and I don't feel like cooking, so it's his way!

And what recipe did your DH use for the salmon dip? I have a shitton of salmon to use.
Ooops, not a long time. I do remember they played each other before, but it seemed longer ago. The last couple years were good.
I have on purple now. Might grab my Seahawks sweatshirt. And, yes, I'm watching for the commercials, maybe the half-time show and the general experience...not for either team.
