Oh the ILs just left... Comedy of Errors

Seriously, it's like a Comedy of Errors whenever they come by:

My MIL woke me up this morning (because I'm now working nights, I'm trying to stay on a later sleep schedule to minimize disruptions) so I only got 4 hours sleep-- partly MHs fault, because he doesn't keep his phone on him, so they always try me, knowing I have my phone with me at all times.

FIL let the dog escape the house-- and of course she ran away/around the neighbourhood, because that's what she does when she has a bid at freedom. He ALWAYS does this. Without fail. Every visit. (And then acts surprised each time it happens.)

FIL left his Valentine's Day card for MIL at our house-- no idea why he brought it in. Again.

MIL made a comment about MH being more sensitive than I am and how I'm "burly" and "tough." I couldn't avoid the snarky comment I made about how maybe I won't take time off from work to go down to Boston for MILs surgery if I'm not sensitive enough.

Oh, they are just ridiculous. In the truest sense of the word...

Funnily, FIL made a comment about how he told MIL she didn't spend enough time with MH because she spends all her free time with SIL and that FIL told MIL she needs to spend more time with us. What a beautiful thought-- and the exact opposite of what I would want! LOL

  • oy vey! That sounds like a big headache.

My parents came over for brunch this morning and the minute they stepped in the door, I was over their visit. My dad rang the door bell...w hich obviously makes the dog bark and the baby had JUST closed her eyes for a snooze. Then they walk in with their dog who peed all over our floor.

    Yay!

  • Funny-- when I sent an email to my mom, I started it with "oy vey" too. LOL It's an Oy Vey kind of Sunday, I guess...

My doorbell doesn't work at the moment-- maybe I'll wait to fix it until after I have children and we've celebrated the youngest's 2 year birthday!

  • Doorbell idea sounds excellent!

We have the same thing happen with our dogs, but luckily they will stop if I yell in a deep voice. It's annoying though, when they go"oops I did it again huh?" Grrr

MIL needs to just start with adding your name to cards, etc. before she goes ful force with visits etc. Maybe stop saying you're insensitive too :)
