We bought a house 2 years ago, and moved out of state last year turning it into a rental. The house is right on the outside of a brand new housing development, which seems to have a HOA.
Our renters got a letter in the mail welcoming them to the Hoa, and a list of dues, and telling them a packet will be in the mail, or in the clubhouse for them. I tried calling to find out what was going on left a message a week ago. We have no urge to be in the hoa, we were there first, and no one else around us has gotten the letter.
Today renters got a letter with a overdue bill for dues, and a fine sine we have a pool. I tried calling again, and left another message. Can a hoa just spring up? We know we are outside the gates, never signed anything agreeing to this hoa, Our manger for the rental says they have no rights, and just ignore it if they won't call back. If it comes down to it, they will draft a letter, with property lines showing the house is outside.
Re: hoa ? for landlords
That's insane!! I would not ignore it, as they will continue to send letters. I would keep calling the property management company and get them straightened out.
