favorite "off the beaten path" NYC
Is there anything really unique you have done in NYC that you really enjoyed. We are going to see "Wicked" in a few weeks and are staying in the theater district for a couple of days....I've been a few times, but my DH has never been.
Re: favorite "off the beaten path" NYC
I live in NY, so a lot of stuff I do is off the beaten path (at least as far as tourists go). What kinds of things are you interested in?
Really, I think New York is best experienced by exploring the diverse neighborhoods. If you walked from the Meatpacking District through the West Village and central Greenwich Village, to Soho and Nolita, you'd see a bunch of different mostly residential neighborhoods with very different architecture and a lot of history. And you'd pass lots of great places to eat/shop along the way.
There are a lot of fabulous restaurants in Brooklyn -- Williamsburg in particular is having a moment (and it is right across the river). Or you could walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to DUMBO and have pizza at Grimaldi's. That's really cool on a nice day.
