Let's talk about pet peeves
My current one (maybe its kinda weird) is when people wear winter coats indoors. I mean, while shopping or whatever, okay. But when you're, say, in my perfectly warm living room or classroom, you do NOT need a coat. When people wear them indoors I feel like they're about to get up and leave. It just really really bugs me!
Okay, your turn.
Re: Let's talk about pet peeves
I hate clicking on random links...if it's a short article, I'd rather just read it in the post. If it's long, I'd like at least a synopsis before I go clicking on some link to read it. It really annoys me when the post is just "Ha, this is funny, read this article!" with a link. At least give me cliffs notes:-)
This makes me really upset.
It also makes me upset that London has no walking pattern. Some tube stations say walk on the left others say walk on the right. I think since cars go on the left here we should walk on the left here. Sidewalks are a mess and it pisses me off.
At my school we teach the kids to walk on the left and it makes me really happy, yeah posh private school!
Bio
Not using turn signals as intended when driving (e.g. either never freakin' turning it off or never using it all all). Believe it or not, Naples has almost beaten that one out of me.
People who don't pick up after their dogs in public areas (if you want your personal yard to be full of poo, more's the merry, but at a park... what's wrong with you?).
People who are unreasonable in public e.g.:
Parents who do nothing to deal with a young/tired child's meltdown in a restaurant/shop. Not saying the parent should freak out on the kid, if 'scream it out' is the way to go, cool. But perhaps, a step or two outside or to a more private area, so we don't all have to share in the lesson?
Flipside nasty people who glare at kids/babies for no reason or get loud and huffy when clearly a parent is reasonably trying to work through a tantrum.
People who, on a public street, freak out and recoil from my dog as if she's Jaws when she literally hasn't so much as looked at them much less sniffed near them. Dude, she's an English Setter-- she doesn't bark, she doesn't jump, she hasn't even noticed you're alive. If she were to care and get really excited she'd 'set'-- yeah, pretty scary. Drives me nuts. I totally get not being a dog person/being scared of dogs. That's why, even though she's mellow, in public, I always keep her on a leash, handled by a responsible adult. The recoiling for no f*ing reason is absurd and bends my mind.
Similarly, people with an unreasonable reaction to smokers. I'm not a smoker (never have even tried a puff). That said, if I go to an outdoor cafe, with a smoking section, I don't think it's reasonable to completely go into meltdown mode when someone lights up. Yes, if they were directly blowing smoke at me, I would ask them to stop that, move, or leave. But an extreme, bordering on theatrical, reaction just upon seeing a cigarette in public outdoors... that annoys me.
People who use FB to do nothing but complain. Quit whining, it's called life and everyone has to deal with things. If the man picking his nose next to you on the train is your biggest issue in life, then you're pretty lucky!
Also, people who use FB to do nothing but tell the world how amazing their spouse or SO is. Chances are if you need to shout it to the world, they're really not that great. We can all see through this defense mechanism. Note: anniversaries and birthdays are obvious exceptions.
I agree with ALL your points VABeach08 - but especially these two!!
Not using a turn signal has been my pet peeve for YEARS - it drives me nuts, especially with roundabouts to deal with!!
and the poo - omg - I had to pick up 5 piles that people left on our front yard last week - SO SO SO Gross, WTF is wrong with people?? I swear if I ever catch anyone leaving their dog poo on my yard I will freak out at them!!
Yeah, the dog poo? Part of our yard is open to the street, and my home office window looks right out there. I will sometimes catch people letting their dog poo in that section of my yard. It's the only part that gets good direct sunlight, so I'd like to use it for growing tomatoes and such, but no way. Oh, and if I catch them then as long as I'm dressed and presentable, I go out on the balcony and say in a strict tone, "I certainly hope you're planning on cleaning up after your dog." So far every single person has either then pulled a plastic bag out of their coat and been like "Of course, of course!" in an offended tone or one said there were no public trash cans along her path, so she would clean it up on the way back (pulled out an unused bag as proof). I saw her do it, too, so that was good.
It makes me unreasonably angry for a good hour if I'm not able to catch them - that happened last Thursday. I just wasn't fast enough.
My favorite in Zurich were the people who would pick up the poop with the little baggies but then just leave it all over the place vs. putting it in the trash. When I was walking a dog for a month in a huge forest area/dog park I would see this all the time and it would drive me mad.

I get so annoyed when people wear flip flops when it freezing out! Similar to yours
I mean if its cold enough for someone to wear a jacket, they shouldn't be wearing flip flops. I don't like seeing this when it is below freezing!! I'm just sayin'.
We live beside a park and the entire length of our road's pavement (both sides) are like running a poo gauntlet, especially when you have the stroller... and we walk the length of our road very frequently. It's disgusting...
But to make it more complicated, not all the "deposits" are actually poo... some are just mud from people's football boots that they decide to clean before putting them into their car after using the playing fields in the park...
