My friend needs them badly
She is pregnant with her first baby and they went last week to determine the gender (it's a boy!). However the ultrasound showed that the left side of his heart was not developing. They went back to see the specialist who confirmed that the baby has a condition (I forget what it's called) in which the left side of the heart never completely develops. They go back in 2-3 weeks to see if he's progressing, which is possible but unlikely. If it's not getting better, the baby may not survive past a few days of birth. The other possibility is a series of 3 surgeries over the first year and a half of his life, and then he is likely to only live to be 5 (although there are cases in which people are living in their 20s with this condition).
I'm just devastated for her, and can't even fathom what she's feeling right now. She lost her father 3 years ago just a month or so before her wedding, and now this - just doesn't seem fair. Anyway if you can spare some prayers/vibes/crossed fingers for her that things develop in the next 2-3 weeks I would really appreciate it.

April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
You definitely have them! I cannot imagine how scary that would be.
I go for my a/s a week from today, and I am becoming one of those annoying people that say that I really don't care what the sex is as long as it is healthy (I usually just want to say oh, bullcrap just tell me which sex you prefer to those people - haha). I am SO nervous because I haven't seen the baby since it looked like a gummy bear back at Week 7!

April Nesties March siggy challenge: Next Vacation, Anguilla!!
Mel said it so perfectly. I can't imagine going in for such an exciting ultrasound only to be dealt that horrible news. I pray they get better news at their next appointment and the strength needed to deal with this all.
