TAXES!

Did you file yet?  Are you happy? LOL

We scored in deductions this year thankfully.  I kept track of all our medical bills.  It is sickening (no pun intended) how much we went this year.  We were able to write off $594 in gas alone and that is with only 19 cents per a mile reimbursement.  Before copays, medicine, etc and we have a great healthcare program.

  • We have an appointment next week. Unfortunately we are going to get killed because of my unemployment .

  • dh has an appt at the end of feb. i was unemployed for 5 months but we did have DS which is a plus. we might not get back as much as we did in the past. it doesn't matter we don't use the money for anything specific, its just going in the house fund.

  • We're doing ours next week. I worked the entire year in 2011 as opposed to like 2 months in 2010. I hope that doesn't screw us up too much. I file single with no dependents on my W4 so they withhold the max from me but it may not be enough once you combine our incomes. I don't really expect money back, I just want to break even.
  • We're still waiting on my W-2 (ridiculous). DH will take everything in to our accountant one day this month. We expect to get back about the same this year as we did last year. It's a decent return since DH has a ton of work write-offs. It's all goIng straight to savings for when we buy a larger house this spring.

  • All done yesterday! I wanted to get them done before the little lady arrives because God knows I'll be too preoccupied with her next month. We're getting some back, I'm happy with that, put that in the daycare fund lol.

  • Any year that we don't end up owing; I'm happy. We got something back this year, so I'm satisfied. I always list single and have the max taken out too.

  • I filed a few days ago, as soon as DH's W-2 showed up.  I always use TurboTax so I can enter everything in as it comes in, then once the last thing shows, I just have to put it in and efile.

We're getting back way more than I expected, because we forgot to adjust DH's withholding to take into account that I didn't have a job all year.  Although I hate knowing we overpaid so much, on the bright side, we're getting an unexpected windfall to put toward DH's new car.  And now we can adjust his withholding for this year and will get more in his paycheck each month than we expected.

AND you'll have a cute little bundle of deduction in your household so cha-ching when you file for 2012!

  • We've been getting things together do our accountant can finish up. He already had to get some paperwork together for his business. Hoping by the end of the month we will have filed.

  • I just was waiting on any information from St. Jude - I give them a large amount of money each month (thanks to one of the kids singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow).
  • I expect us to get a little less back then what we did last year.

We don't own a house so that is a huge impact to our taxes.  I hate it but that is our situation currently...and don't get me started about dependent deductions..ugh

  • haven't filed yet :(  I have no excuse other than to blame myself since I am our accountant.  lol  I've been gathering all of our year-end forms since everything is online and not sent to the house anymore so just a matter of me sitting down one day and actually doing it...   oh the procrastination.

  • we're done just waiting on our return & we are thrilled!! <3
