geocaching-anyone?

The car in front of me this morning had a license plate frame that said something about "my hobby is using multi-million dollar satellites to find tupperware in the woods".  Just made me wonder if anyone has done any geocaching at all?

Re: geocaching-anyone?

  • No, but I think there used to be one on or attached to the water hydrant across the street from us. DH was talking to some women who were looking for it.

I could see that being something DH would get into - something to get you out and kinda geeky too.

  • no, but my brother does with my nephew - mostly when they travel I think. My DH deals with it all the time too since he is the director of a local forest; he has to keep reminding people they can't put geocaches way off of the trails.

  • We went with friends once.  Definitely not my thing, but I can see how it would be a lot of fun for some people.  It's pretty low budget and would be family friendly.
  • We do it.  It's pretty fun - it's like a treasure hunt!  And it gets you out into your own area (or somewhere that you're visiting) to see the area.  We haven't gone in a few years because our hobbies have taken us in other directions - but we always are interested in getting back to it.
  • I'm very intrigued by it. I think it would be something Jake and I would enjoy doing.

  • I haven't but would love to sometime! Hoping to camp a lot this summer in our new pop-up so I may scout out some geocaching adventures.
  • H and I do it and it's a lot of fun!  We've found several in our (small) town and have done a few in Houston.  I sometimes get embarrassed if someone spots us digging around in random places.  (Like the groundcover in the Lowe's parking lot...)
