We went to primary prep today. I liked it but ironically it's owned by the same people as the kids r kids. I'm not really sure how I feel about this.

  • Did you tell them exactly why you left Kids R Kids? I'm curious what their comments would be.

I wish AJ were younger, b/c we would probably consider a nanny share with ya'll.

  • They didn't ask if we had her anywhere now.  I told the lady on the phone friday that we were leaving another center but she never asked which one.  During the tour there was a teacher who they said had been with the company for 14 years and was at Kids R Kids until last year.  That's when I started to wonder.  I asked right before we left what other facilities they own but I just left it at that.

A nanny share would definitely be nice but the age difference is hard since they couldn't really interact with each other.

  • Have you looked at Creme?  That's the one I've heard the most good things about in that area.  Also, if you haven't seen it, I posted about the Chastain School (where Harlie goes) in Friday's post.  I do almost all the p/u and d/o since it's close to my office and I wouldn't have it any other way, I love going there every day in interacting with the teachers and kids--it's the best way for me to keep tabs on everything that goes on with her day.

I actually toured The Chastain School on Friday.  I really liked it but I'm concerned about me being the only one who could do drop off/pick up.  It's still an option for us and if we don't like East Cobb United Methodist we might put her at Chastain until we can decide on something else.  It's just soooo hard.  I think it's worse now that I've been scorned.  I'm going to have a hard time trusting anyone with her now.

I totally get how you're feeling.  When Harlie was as little as Callie I had a lot of stress related to how she was being cared for in my absence.  Now that she's older I realize that she was cared for very well and that her teachers (the same ones she's had since she started) love her very much. What I've learned is that all that matters is (1) the actual teachers who will care for your child--no matter how great the school is rated, if the teacher(s) are not good the care will not be good and (2) related to #1 the quality of the management staff.  No teacher is 100% perfect, just like no mom is perfect.  However, the management staff must be immediately responsive to a parent's concerns and cannot be defensive about it.  Although there have been some bumps in the road here and there, anything I've ever raised with the director has been addressed promptly and the tone of the responses have been "thank you for bringing this to our attention" and I get immediately follow-up and immediate tangible change.  It sounds like that was not the response you got at KidsRKids and that's what bothered me the most.  The school should have been equally horrified and let you know that you had every right to be horrified.
