Another Friend Down

My friend and her husband had their baby today.  I'm happy for them, but we haven't discussed a single thing other than her uterus for the past 9 months, and we've only talked about 4 times since I've moved anyway.  I know how this goes...

Long distance friendship + TTC obsessed and pregnancy + now a baby = probably rarely or possibly never hearing from her again.

*sigh*  We used to be so close, but for the last 2 years the frienship has been pretty one-sided and I've put forth more effort which is frustrating.  According to our other friends who still live near her, she's become more interested in hanging out with other young parents now which is no surprise.

It's a shame but oh, well.  Life goes on, right?  I miss her, but really the thing that bothers me most is I'm afraid this is eventually going to happen with all of my friends.  Luckily, I still have a few that are single for now, lol.

Re: Another Friend Down

  • Ah, that sucks.  I have a couple of friends that have fallen victim to that too.  So I'm trying to find new, childless couples that want to hang out.

  • Is it hard to find child-free people in your area?

It's pretty uncommon here in Kentucky, and it's irritating.  It seems like as soon as people get married they immediately start having kids.  My only hope are the singles, lol.

    Yay for drunkish!

And sad that another friend has become a mombie. I'm glad most of the girls my age that I work with are never-evers or not-right-nows. My best friend didn't change much when she became a mom (and as her bestie I pretty much love her child anyways, and get excited about that dumb stuff) but I have a lot of friends that just forgot about everything that wasn't baby poop/food/growth related. It's a bummer.

    I feel you KDuv!

I'm sorry, I know how much situations like this can suck because they cannot see how much the relatioship has switched to being so one-sided. Like VXS said, you've still got us!! :)

It is difficult.  If a couple around here hasn't had a baby or isn't pregnant by a year, most people assume there's a problem.  I'm thinking people must think I'm barren around here.  My bro & SIL were expecting already on their wedding day.  My younger sister has been married 6mths and she's already pregnant (she's also only 20, and is crazy cakes but that's a whole other story)  Most of my college friends were pregnant within a year of getting married.

So most of the firends we hang out with are MH's age (40s) so their kids are older, and they have more time to do fun things.  But it would be nice to hang out with ones closer to my age (late 20s).

It's very hard for me to find CF friends. My BFF is a strict never-ever no thanks! so I'm VERY happy about that.

  • This year, I wanted to go to Six Flags Great America and I can't do that. Mostly all my couple friends have kids. There are like three that don't but one of them is TTC and they all live in Wisconsin.

We pretty much stick to ourselves here in Illinois since I have lost touch with all my friends here because of school and lack of school.

Yes, you have us here. I think S3xy created that map with all our locations. I think you may be close in proximity to another nestie on here right?
