I'm working on my resume. I'm only getting 2 days a week of work now (mostly Saturdays and Sundays) so I'm going re-vamp my resume.
How do you sell yourself by your skills without sounding pretentious?

Re: Resume question..
I just list my skills on the resume, because I have so much other junk to fit onto one page and I try to keep it concise (not too wordy, easy to read).
I leave the "selling myself" for when I get to the interview or do the majority of the sunshine pumping on the cover letter.
H was giving me pointers. He looked at my resume and said it sounded like I want to be a secretary other than a leader or something in a company. He said that I'd more than likely get picked for secretarial jobs by putting how many WPM I type, that I'm highly organized, and know Microsoft office. I do need to add that I have a basic understanding of SPSS (Statistical software) on there.
I do sell myself in the interview, but I haven't been getting interviews because I think my resume sucks. I have leadership skills on there that I should get rid of (they're from HS) and I need to make it stand out more from the other resumes.
I sometimes have an "Objective" on the top that gets changed depending on the job I am applying for, so it's okay to tweak some things as needed.
It can be difficult to find the happy medium of having a resume that stands out without being too crazy or too silly. Are you on LinkedIn or Doostang? I know some folks on there are willing to do resume help if you want someone to actually look at it and make changes.
My Blog
I'll look at linkedin. And I may make three, thanks sessions
I'm just in a rut because I graduate in May and will have 2 Bachelors of Arts (History and Sociology) and I have NO idea what I want to do.
