As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

How weird would it be if the local history nerd called you out of the blue and said that they had a photo of, say, your great grandmother and wanted to get it back to you?

Weird, but endearing.
When my uncle passed away last year, I found his obituary and a picture of him on this website: findagrave.com
It made me feel a little violated, but I get why people are doing it.
People feel differently about family information posted online. I personally won't post anything online that isn't for a member of my own family and then I hold some things back. I have not only an obituary but actual medical records from a relative who committed suicide at the end of an out of control relationship with a married man. I wouldn't dream of sharing that, even though it is already part of the public record.
