Are we all still crying about the game?

Helloooo out there?

Besides the obvious, how were your weekends?

Not too bad here.  Had the last of our family celebrations for Chinese New Year on Saturday.  My immediate family came over for lunch at our place, then we all headed over to my aunt & uncles for dinner.  Had a massive fight with my crazy mom that evening (I mean, it was bad), but we made up on Sunday so all's well that ends well I guess.

Yesterday DH and I spent several hours at the MoS checking out the Pompeii exhibit, saw the gecko display, and watched a Planetarium show on exoplanets.  Then watched the game with my family.  Sigh.  At least the first part of the day was good :)

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I don't really care about the Pats loss. I mean, I hope they win in a "they're my home team" kind of way, but I don't actually care.

We spent the weekend continuing to work on settling in. Now H is is CA for the week so I'm left to my own devices hanging our pictures and such... I think they're mostly level haha.

Rock, sorry about the fight with your mom!

  • LadyE, how does one go about setting up a new home while watching a toddler at the same time?  You rock!

Seriously. I'd be tempted to let my kid dump out boxes, and then leave the stuff wherever for when my husband got home. "Look, DS helped us unpack!"

Our weekend was pretty boring. We went to lunch and the grocery store on Saturday, then watched 50/50 that night. (Which I really liked, btw.) Yesterday, my husband spent the afternoon burning off nervous energy by pacing and washing the dishes while I played Suzy Homemaker. I made him chilli in the crock pot for lunches this week, baked brownies (you guys were the ones who raved about the Ghiardelli ones, right? ZOMG, they are amazing!), and then made us these pizza bites for dinner. (Also amazing, even though I didn't put enough pepperoni & cheese in each bite.) (Also, I used store-bought dough. I'm not a glutton for punishment.)

As for the game, ugh. My husband was curled up in a ball on the couch groaning by the end.  (He takes his foosball very seriously.)  He seemed better today, thankfully, but I know he's bummed. It's not as bad as last time, though; he was depressed for like a week then.

  • ::DrL stops her victory dance to answer this post:: ;)

Saturday DH went to an event in...NH, maybe? So DD and I hung out around the house. DH got home early enough to make dinner.

Sunday I slept in, went to church, hit a couple stores (have to have beer for the SB), and chased a toddler while keeping an eye on the game. Once she went to bed I parked myself on the sofa and watched the victory :)

  • What game?

Rock, sorry to hear about the fight with your mom. I have those sometimes.

We had THE wedding this past weekend. It was great, it was gorgeous. The bride truly outdid herself.

I am exhausted, however, and it didn't help that once DS truly realized we were home, he was so emotional and over-excited that he screamed and cried, full on meltdown for a good 45 minutes, clinging to me. Oh, it was so heartbreaking.

I did sleep well, but now I have 6,529 things to do before we close on this house. Including pack, because technically I only have 2 weekends to do it with everything else we have going on!

LOL there were a couple of boxes that DS unpacked like that. But I just really hate feeling like we're not moved in and I hate having boxes around.

I have three rooms (living room, family room and dining room) gated off so DS plays with all of his toys and I can unpack as long as I'm doing it in that room. So I've been hanging pictures and unpacking decorations today in those three rooms.

DS is napping right now, so I just went in and made the beds in both of the guest rooms and unpacked all of our extra sheets and blankets in to the guest room closets. Tomorrow my nap time goal is going to be to start setting up my craft room. I would work on the office, but the desk is from Ikea and I don't know how to set it up.

I smell a playdate! I am the de facto Ikea furniture assembler in my house.

  • LadyE, did I hear "craft room?"  So jealous!  Do post or send some pics when you're set up; I'd love to see!  I think Dr.L just volunteered herself to help you build furniture, and you might as well have her paint while she's there :)

Punky, pics of the wedding--I need them!  Hope the speech went well.  How did the whole BM dress thing work out?

  • I have been consumed with SILs wedding since Thursday. The rehearsal and dinner were Thursday night and then Friday some of the girls went and got our nails done and then out to lunch.

Saturday was the big day. It was a beautiful wedding. SIL looked amazing in her dress. The weather was great... everything was great. It was really a perfect day.

Yesterday we went home and took a shower and then went to SILs house for a Superbowl party.

And tonight I am so going to bed early.

Ditto all of this... plus RNV, sorry about the mom-quarrel.

Dr. L-- DH hates Ikea assembly as well and I typically end up having more patience.

  • Thanks, everyone, for the mom support.  I really appreciate it.

  • DrL, you can come assemble my furniture any time, you have an open invitation! I'll watch the kids.

Rock, I have taken over one of the bedrooms to be a craft room. The house has an office and obviously we don't need 5 bedrooms right now, so I have claimed the smallest bedroom for myself. Right now it's just a disassembled table and a bunch of boxes and bags. Hopefully today I can make a little progress in there!
