Philly Craft Beer Festival

Is anyone going?  I'm not and I'm so mad!  I had a ticket and was all ready to go last year, but got knocked up.  This year, it sold out in minutes and they eliminated the night session so unless you wanted to pay $75 for a VIP ticket (which is sold out as of today anyway) you were SOL.

Who can I live vicariously through?

Re: Philly Craft Beer Festival

  • I'm not going this year.  I went the past 2 years and while it's a ton of fun, it always ends in a sh!t show.  Last year, my Dad was puking by 5 and DH was PTFO on our living room floor by 6.  It's super crowded, but after a few very strong beers you don't really care anymore.  The best part is when you get a good buzz going and watch the cougars begin dancing to whatever band they have playing. I heard this year it's all outside under a tent?  I can't imagine them fitting everyone under a tent, so I assume they are going to have several?  After having done it 2 years in a row, I kind of needed a break.  It's a serious beer drinking event but we are also nerds and take it very seriously, lol. But we also get rocked.

If you are going because of the beers, it's always a nice selection but there's nothing rare or extremely special.  For the most part, it's all stuff that is easily accessible in PA.  There were one or two really small start-up breweries that I found really interesting.  I guess the VIP ticket was going to include rare beers this year, but to drink some really strong rare beers early on in the beginning seems pointless to me.  You'd barely make it through the hour 2!

I think beer week is a more solid option for trying great and rare beers, so I'm probably taking a few vacation days for that.

  • We aren't going either.  Ditto Jewels  - while it is a lot of fun, everyone is always hammered afterwards and I'm just getting to old for that.

  • I have nver been before so I wanted to go to try different beers, not really get hammered but I guess that would've been inevitible either way.  I used to be strictly a Miller Lite girl and have been forced by the hubs to branch out so I wanted to sample around.  I'll keep an eye on the beer week festivities.

  • You are better off going to Brewers Plate. Food and BEER!  Not nearly the drunk fest that is the CBF, but there are a handful of people who overindulge.

Lansdale beer tasting festival!  Right near the train, so easy to travel to.  Smaller, but lots of great beers.

Beer week beer week beer week!  I'm hoping I'm KTFU by then, but if not, we have a date to drink!  There's so many beers at CBF that it's like a rush to try everything and then suddenly you realize you are hammered...and it's no good.

I bought my husband tickets to this one last year. Luckily he walked home...and landed in our yard...for the night.

Apparently it was a good time. ( I was KU and at a baby shower)
