I just want to read at lunch. I can't sit in the break room because there are so many people. So I sit in my office, lunch and Kindle on my desk. And people kept coming in to ask me work stuff! Can I get 15 flipping minutes of silence, please?!
Re: I will stab you.
PIP fail. Here's another.
That is so aggravating!
I had the same person come up to my desk twice while I was eating lunch today. TWICE! But in all fairness he will be gone the rest of the week after today so I forgave him this time.
I feel you on the lunch peace... let me have it, please!
Seriously, if I really need some quiet time to myself during the day I go out to the car at lunch, turn it on so I stay warm and just sit there. Sometimes I even take a quick 15-20 minute nap (with the doors locked). It might be a waste of gas but sometimes I just need people to leave me alone!
Good luck Eve! I hope all your co-workers survive the day!
I used to do this sometimes also. It was worth it to get away for a bit.
Sometimes I go sit in a storage room for a couple minutes, but I can't eat lunch there. When it's nice outside, I eat at a picnic table outside or go to a nearby park.
I have a door but it's glass so people will still *tinktinktink* on it if they see me inside.
You should get a "Will be back at [clock dial]" and maybe they'll get the point. If not, you need a sign you can hold up that says "Look at the sign on the door..."
I leave for lunch every day, but it's not a big city, so it's easy to do.
