Dating internationally, according to this article.

Is it true for your countries? I laughed very, very, very hard at the last line about guys in Spain. (So, so true.)

Re: Dating internationally, according to this article.

  • lol the existential virtues of camembert! haha well, H seemed to have no idea that the man usually pays. After the initial shock, I quite agreed with him that the idea of 'dating' is bizarre and confusing. We hung out with a group of people and eventually started wandering off by ourselves like it says. worked well because  I sucked at traditional dating
  • Haha. Apparently DH tried the German staring-at-me-to-make-me-come-over thing at a party we were at together on the night before I left to go back to the States after my exchange year, but being the American I am, I was oblivious. He had to confess his feelings to me in the car on the way to the airport the next morning.

  • Ha! DH said I was way too easy because I didn't play any games like Italian women do. I was a naive, honest Midwestern girl. He won't let me live down the fact that I texted back five minutes after he asked me out. No making him sweat it out!

  • I made the mistake of reading this while out in public. I cracked up at three or four places an got a lot of strange stares.
  • I hate that, I'm sorry.
  • This is so true it's not even funny.

No, wait, it is funny. It's hilarious.  I had a fantastic laugh while nursing this morning!  I don't know about other countries, but the part about Spanish dating is pretty much spot on (although my Spaniard is on the shy side so our first date wasn't filled with touching).

  • I just read this to H (Australia).  His reply, edited for TN:

Things have sure effing changed from when I was young.  H$ll most of the women would chuck the $hits if you bought one round and then even suggested that they may want to pay for the next round".

He is wondering if the shift has come about because of the supposed man shortage here.

  • You don't "date" in England...not totally true, but a lot of friend ended up just hooking up with guys they know, over and over, and eventually that means they are dating and then they move in together!

  • My friend here would probably disagree with the German thing. She hates dating in Germany because guys don't want to pay the bill, they want to split it. When we were with a bunch of my German friends she brought this up and the German girls explained that they have money so they don't need men to pay for their stuff.
