Remember a while back I had asked opinions on a job with a commute but more money. Well they wanted to offer the job to me at the salary that I wanted (16K more!!!) but we couldnt agree on the hours. I work 7-3:30 now but they couldnt accommodate those hours right away, so I wouldn't see the girls very much during the week for a while if I took the job.
Well, I declined the position. I just couldn't deal with not seeing the girls during the week, even for that much more money. And then with the girls being sick this last week and Delaney needing to be in the hospital, I know I made the right decision. The recruiter thinks that the company still might come back to me and give me the hours that I want, but I am still thinking that I am going to decline just because it is so far away (~35 miles). I am so close to the girls where I currently work (my house is 2 blocks from work and their daycare is about 5 minutes away) and I can come and go when I need to, so while I do need to make more money, having the ability to be there in a second for the girls is my top priority right now.
So I am still looking to see if there is anything close and looking for other ways to make some extra money. I got a call about a job where you can work from home (it was for a Human Resources system company where I would build demos of their systems) but the manager wanted someone with more systems experience. So I know there will be something out there for me, I just need to keep looking!
