Neena weaned

Neena has officially self-weaned. My milk has almost completely dried up and three days ago she had her last latch-on. She looked at me and said, "mama, mama milk all gone." And, she hasn't latched since.  I'm at peace with it since it was on her own terms, but I'm still sad. :-(

Re: Neena weaned

  • aww. I could see how that would make you sad, as it would make me sad. She nursed for a long time! Go neena!

and so cute how she let you know. Funny how I thought toddlers talking and nursing was odd before I started nursing, now I find it so adorable.

  • I'm sure it's sad for you, but it won't be long before you'll be nursing another little one. Over two years, truly amazing
  • That's precious. I know it's sad--I had mixed feelings about it when I officially weaned Nora. You should feel great about how long you nursed her; seriously impressive. And she let you know it was time, which is great.
  • Aw, that's really sweet :)
  • I'm so glad you had the nursing experience you wanted with BLW and making it to 2+ years!  I completely understand how it must be sad... the good news is that you get to experience it again soon.  :)

  • Oh that made me tear up a little... Glad you are at peace but totally understand being sad about it!

Second, what Kim said! I was really sad when I nursed Taryn for the last time when she was 22 months old--like tears in my eyes sad, but what helped was knowing that I was going to have another baby soon and would get to do it all over again.

    Ditto this.

  • You did amazingly Jenn!  What an awesome accomplishment.  And Neena's reaction is too sweet.

Can't wait til  you have a new little one to nurse!

Agree! What a beautiful accomplishment, and Neena's words, made me tear up!  Hang in there, mama!
