What was your favorite Childhood book?

I have been invited to a baby shower and instead of cards they requested books.  Cute idea!

Re: What was your favorite Childhood book?

  • Love You Forever by Robert Munsch

I can't wait to read it to Renee, however I'm not sure I'll get through it with her without crying.  Haha.

  • My favorite was Muffin, Brown Bear, and Me.  But it isn't in print anymore.  :(

I absolutely love Someday by Allison McGhee. Makes me cry every time.  And from now on it will be the book I bring to baby showers.

I (and James) also really like Hippos Go Berserk by Sandra Boynton.  (any of her books are really good).

  • I will second Mira about Sandra Boynton books. Hippos Go Berserk and Barnyard Dance are on heavy rotation in our house.

I'll See You on the Morning by Mike Jolley is a great bedtime book.

If you know it is a girl, I really like Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch.

  • I love this idea.

Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is my ultimate favorite.

I also like Kitten's First Full Moon.  As a kid, I liked Dr. Seuss, the Corduroy bear series, and Fedinand, the Bull.

    Children's books are my favorite.

  • I don't really remember many books befor I started reading them myself. I know that I was never without my Green Eggs and Ham book!

One of our favorites right now is Heaven is for Real for Kids! My kids love it. There is aslo an adult version that I would highly recomend. The little mosters also love the veggie tales books, Goodnight Gorilla, and The Very Hungry Caterpiller.

    Todd Parr is awesome.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Brown Bear, Baby Bear, any of the David books by David Shannon (there's a diaper David series of board books that I love reading and Mere loves hearing). There are some awesome books that you can download the cd called Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes and another called Pete the Cat Rockin in my School Shoes. They aren't super babyish but they have songs and I love books on cd.

  • I have fond memories of Hop on Pop and the Berenstein Bears and the Spooky Tree
  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

DS loves that, Goodnight Moon, Guess How Much I Love You, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and the Dr. Seuss ABC book.

  • Where the Wild Things Are.  I even have a Max tattoo :)

Ben LOVES the David series - the drawings totally creep me out though lol.  David looks scary!

And I'll second Sandra Boynton.  All her books are fun.  Corduroy is another fave of Ben's, as well as the Eric Carle books.
