My mortage turned into an ARM this year, and w/ the interest rates, that is good news! What a happy surprise that my bill is over $300 less!!!
Re: AW Mortgage
Woot woot! That is awesome!
When I started reading about you hitting an ARM this year, my stomach dropped, I remember the old days of people losing their homes over ARMS.
I know! At least this economy is good for something! I was talking to my step-mom about looking into a refi (apparantly the rules are changing in March about getting refi when upside down) and she said I may actually end up paying more if I refi. Looks like she was right!
OMG. THIS. i was so worried! but glad it's working out awesome for you!! yaaay!

I too was worried when I saw the word ARM in your post. My parents had a horrible experience with it a long time ago. I'm so happy for you though! That is great it is working in your favor. And $300 less! Damn! Jealous!

My sister had a much worse ARM, but got a lower mortgage a while ago. My ARM wasn't so bad, because it was fixed for 5 years first and then has a cap on how much it can raise each year. But, it went down from 5.5% to 3.5% and with the annual caps on how much it can raise (I think .2/year -- I should go double check that), it'll be low for a while! Thank goodness no cap on how far it can drop!
This month, I just paid some bills I needed to pay. I probably should keep paying the same on my mortgage, but I won't. It'll either go to a new car (I have a 2-door Civic, not good for babies) or into savings. But, if I have to take off 6 weeks-3 months with no pay, I'll need to save more than $300/month. And DH will start having to pay student loans soon. But, soon, soon. ; )
