Good areas to live in in Fort Worth

My husband got a job in Fort Worth, so we are relocating from out a state. Can you ladies recommend a good neighborhoods to look in? We're looking to rent an apartment.

Re: Good areas to live in in Fort Worth

  • Keller, TCU area (University, Hulen and 30)

  • The Ridglea or Cityview area is nice here. There are a lot of walking/biking trails around here near the Trinity River by highway 183.
  • Keller, and depending on where he will work Colleyville & Southlake are really nice & not too far away. (Southlake is pretty expensive though)

  • Also, Hurst and North Richland Hills.
  • There are a ton of apartments in north Fort Worth near Western Center Blvd (76137).  The traffic is not so great, but I think when they are finished with the construction it will be a little bit better.

I really hope so.  When we come to FW from Denton, it's the area that drives me crazy.

YES, tell me about it!!  I drive it every morning to work.  :(

I'd probably want to kill myself if I had to do that drive on a daily basis.

That is exactly where I used to live! Just make sure you don't go to the apartments at 377 & Beach, those are funded by Section 8.

Do you mean 377 and Western Center?  By the rail road tracks?

OP, the 76137 and 76131 area and the 76177 area ( a little farther north) both have lots of apartments in different price ranges.  They are close to a lot of everything.  Traffic right now is horrible because of all the construction but it really is a great area to live in.  I lived in the 76137 area from 3rd grade until about 2 years ago.  My entire family still lives over there.

I feel your pain, Lacy. I do too.

Thankfully Kidd Kraddick in the morning makes the commute in bearable (except for last week when an accident took me an extra hour to get to work). The afternoons ... ugh.

To OP: I'd recommend looking within about 10 miles of where your H works ... I commute 30 miles each way to work and while it doesn't sound like that much time, it's AWFUL when you add in the highway traffic here (especially I-35) around that area.

  • we just moved to the fw area and ended up in arlington and like it a lot.  neither of us are from here, so we didnt have anyone to try to be by, family-wise.  but in actual fort worth, we also really like ridglea hills.  there just wasn't much on the market there when we were trying to move (between thanksgiving and christmas, big surprise :) ). dh commutes to downtown fw from south arlington everyday and says it's not too bad.

  • Hi!! I live in ridlea hills and we looove the location! If you're in a temporary place, there are several new houses on the market and my neighbors house is about to go into foreclosure (he passed away and his kids don't know what to do with the house.  It's a bit of a project (all cosmetic) because he had started renovating and then got sick.  Anyway, I'd love to get some cool neighbors in there so PM me if you are interested!!
