Does anyone else despise TWC as much as I do?
TWC = Time Warner Cable
We switched to TWC a while back to save a little money. BIG mistake. We're on DVR #2 and it still does nearly everything we set it up to do incorrectly. It fails to record shows all the time (our #1 and #2 shows on the priority list almost never record). Also, our connection keeps going out. We missed half the Super Bowl.
We've called and the only thing they suggested was replacing our DVR, which we did. I feel like we're getting seriously ripped off.
Any Dish vs. DirecTV opinions? I'm considering switching.
Re: Does anyone else despise TWC as much as I do?
I thought this post was about The Weather Channel
We've had Dish for almost 2 years now I think (had Comcast before that) and have had no issues whatsoever. Occasionally if there's heavy snow or rain, then the signal will go out, but that's only ever happened a couple of times. We've never had a problem with our DVR not recording things.
We have had TWC for probably 10 years. There were times it was awful, like the internet/cable would be unreliable, but now it seems like it is pretty consistent.
Our DVR would get slow after about 4-5 years and we would switch it out with a new one. We actually switched to a new one again last month, and I've noticed it is slow, which is annoying, but it's not the end of the world. I did tell it to record a show and it didn't, so I'm not sure if that was a 1x deal (since it's the only time that happened).
We do not have Verizon FIOS by us, so that isn't an option. And b/c TWC is bundled with our highspeed business class internet, we are sticking with it (rather than going to satellite).
Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be.

You don't necessarily need to put it on your roof. DH didn't want ours up their either, so we had it installed on a small pole right next to our house. It's not an eye sore at all, and it's convenient b/c if heavy snow knocks the signal out, you can just go out and brush it off, and the signal will come back. That's a little harder when it's up on the roof
Ditto Shorty. The guy who came out and installed our dish (DirecTV) actually told us that it needed to be on the side of the house instead of the roof to get the best signal where we were. Overall we've been happy with our service-sure we have issues if there's really heavy rain/wind/snow but its not often and when it does happen we just watch something on the DVR instead.
