The latest in the house saga
We went to see the house this afternoon with DH's uncle who renovates baths and kitchens for a living, and he gave it a good once-over. We all really liked it (even our real estate agent liked it better the second time around). Turns out the roof doesn't need to be replaced, just repaired in a couple of spots, and overall most of what needed fixing was cosmetic.
So this evening DH and I met at the realtor's office and... put in an offer on the house!
We are feeling good about doing so... somehow we managed to get our ducks in a row and are hoping we put in a competitive offer. We got to meet the family who is selling the place when we were there today, and they seemed to like us, so hopefully that will help. Also our agent is putting together a little flavor text in a cover letter to go with our offer.
So we'll find out tomorrow (Tuesday) whether we were competitive or not.

I remember when we got your Christmas card this year, Jeff saw the address on the envelope first, said, "We got something from someone living in a NY apartment?" Haha! I told him yea, that is Kiki, and she really wants a house so they have more room for Milo! He hoped you guys would be able to find one (because he about died at the sight of little Milo - like we all do!), so hopefully this is it!!!!

Thanks everyone! I'm on pins and needles waiting for word. Actually I'm very glad that this week is super busy for me at work so I can't sit and dwell on stuff.

PS. @Danie: the owner did remark on how cute Milo is, and wished us well on our housing search (they may not have known we were interested in putting down an offer), so hopefully he will remember us positively when he considers our offer.
