So what do you all have planned? Celebrating this weekend?
I am not a valentines day person. I kinda view it as a kids holiday (hence why I want to do something special for Evie). Everything for adults is so over priced. I get mad at DH for buying me flowers on valentines day - he came home with some 2 weeks ago and that means so much more to me than flowers on an expected day.
But I am thinking of making the night a little fun. Maybe some fondu and champagne or beer after Evie goes to bed.We did that 2 years ago when I was pregnant and it was a lot of fun. Or maybe make a heart shaped pizza.
Oh also as I said a few weeks ago, I got DH an "I hate valentines day" valentines day card and got him his favorite candy bar to try to be a bit more romantic since my romantic level has been lame lately.
Re: Your Valentines Day Plans
I am taking a 3 day weekend, but only because Monday is Zachary's birthday. We're honestly just planning to things with him all weekend.
We don't ever really do anything for Valentine's Day, but I felt like it this year for some reason. I've been doing "14 Days of Valentines" from a combo of 2 sites I pinned.
We're also going to do a couple's massage on the 15th--but that wasn't necessarily "for" Valentines, it just worked out that way since this is the month they run a special on 1-hr couples massage for $99 and I have a gift certificate.
No plans for us either. DH actually said a few days ago "Ugh, I'm not planning on doing anything for Valentine's Day." I mumbled something about it being fine because I didn't know what day it was anyway...
I have a card that I am going to make for him - only because it's a card that I want to make and it just so happens to work out for Valentine's Day. We aren't big on the day since it's so commercialized but I am a romantic and find the things other people to do endearing. Odd, right?
DH asked the other night what I wanted to do for V-day this year and I unceremoniously said "uh, skip it?". I think he was shocked and maybe a little hurt. Thing is, he doesn't need to take me out. Just small gesture, but sometimes he doesn't get that. Going out is so fun, but with a kid, having to arrange for a sitter, blah blah blah.
Anyway as it turns out my MIL invited herself over Saturday (grrrr...) under the guise of letting us celebrate V-day. So, she's coming and will watch Jane and Jim and I are going to go to brunch and a movie or something.
I then have plans that night to get drinks with a girlfriend of mine - - didn't really think about people being out celebrating v-day, LOL.
ETA: OH! and I'm actually doing a craft! Call the authorities! I am making a version of one of those 'important dates' posters all over Pinterest. Our birthdays, first date, engagement, wedding and janie's bday. I also got him a watch - which he needs and asked me to get so I got it and will just wrap it up. LOL.
Well I didn't plan these things to be near Valentine's Day but so far this week I have on Thursday night a Tasteful Treasures party, on Friday night a Brazilian, and on Saturday a spa/wine night with the girls for a mani/pedi.
Apparently I'm spending all weekend with my friends but hopefully DH will enjoy the fruits of my labor.
On the actual day I think I'm just going to make us a nice dinner at home. We usually do small gifts too. I know I'm in the minority but I don't mind Valentine's Day. We don't 'need' the day to show that we love each other, but it's nice to be reminded to take some couple time for ourselves when things get busy.

Same here. I will actually be babysitting my nieces, so my sister/BIL and SIL/BF can go out to celebrate.
