Re: POLL: Spending the night away from DH
I can think of 20 or so just since Jane so....I guess quite a few. Wow, never thought about it.
(In the hospital before/after having her, J ran two marathons, he went to a frat reunion, I went to Mexico, I went away for work, etc etc)

This past year ( 2011) was probably the most we spent together since we've been married.
His latest work trip ( 6 weeks and counting) still isn't the longest time though.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
It doesn't happen that often since we don't really travel for work so I said a handful of times. The instances I can think of were bachelor/bachelorette parties, girl's weekends, my parent's house, etc.
He did go away for 4 weeks right around this time last year for work but that's really rare and definitely the longest time we've spent apart.
I don't really like it b/c I don't sleep well and I'm a very social person, so being alone in the evenings kill me. I would obviously get used to it if it happened more often though.
I said just a handful of times, but now that I think about it, it's been more than that.
DH went to San Diego for a week for the Rose Bowl a couple years ago; he had a golf outing for a couple days; he's going to Baltimore this week for a couple days, and he'll be in Chicago for a week in March. Everything other than the Rose Bowl was work related.
I'm a big baby and I hate it...every noise I hear throughout the night instantly becomes a murderer coming to get us. I'm really not looking forward to him going to Chicago in March--a week being a single parent of a toddler and an infant plus midterms is going to be tough. I don't know how single mamas, or those in the military do it.
I don't fall into the "all the time" category, but I feel like I need an answer more than "often."
When Sam does have to leave it's for weeks at a time. Right now we're in the middle of 6 weeks apart and it sucks. It also sucks that this time he's taking a class and he's really stressed out. I hate that I can't do anything to make it better for him!
But the countdown is on...we'll see him again a week from Thursday...and it can't come soon enough!
He usually has about 7-10 days worth of overnight trips throughout the year. I usually go away for a girl's weekend 2-4 weekends a year. So I would say it adds up to about 2-3 weeks a year that we spend the night away from each other.
