Update: Gall Bladder

Can't remember if I've mentioned it here or not that I've been having Gall bladder attacks every once in a while. Anyway...So at my Dr.s appointment today we discussed my Gall Bladder attacks that I've had, and now I'm scheduled for an ultrasound on Wednesday morning. I really hope that it isn't really bad so that nothing needs to be done for the time being!!

In the mean time eating is just that much less appealing! I'm on a special diet now which is supposed to help so we'll see how that goes. I've had to eliminate certain foods all together, cheese, onions, cabbage, corn, eggs, fried foods, and anything fatty/greasy. For the rest of the meals no more starches w/protein - so Starches w/veggies, or protein w/veggies. Not all of them at the same time. It's going to be tough!

  • Oh no! It was you and me talking about this a few days ago! So the herbs aren't working anymore? I'm so sorry, that has to be stressfull, especially since you're pregnant. You're in my thoughts! Hope it all goes well!

The herbs are working, but the Dr. would rather check it out and be safe and figure out what's exactly going on sooner than later.

  • Well, it's a bummer about the diet.. but you can make a ton of soup that is still good and good for you. On the other hand, i"m happy you have an ultrasound! The whole thing sounds scary and I think it's good that you'll know if everything is alright and it if will effect baby.

I was already told that unless my symptoms get much much more severe it won't affect baby. If they get more severe it could end up being that baby doesn't get the nutrients that it needs. For now they aren't horribly worried, just want to check out the gall bladder and see if there are stones and what size they are.

True about the soup I hadn't even really stopped to think about that.. but no cream soups with meat, sigh.. The biggest thing that's going to suck about this is the fact that if I really want a cream soup I'm going to have to get my protein later. The reason that's crappy is because I'm always starving these days so I'm eating a ton of times a day.

My brother had gall bladder problems for a couple years until he finally had to have it removed and now has to eat a low fat diet. He found a home remedy extremely effective when he had attacks and while he was making his decision about the surgery. It worked for about a year. This sounds pretty gross and you can look it up but he swears it gave him instant relief for a long period of time afterwards. From what I remember you eat nothing but citrus for several days and then you drink a large quantity of olive oil...like a 1/2 cup or something followed but a large quantity of lemon juice. It flushes out the gall bladder. I can't remember the exact process but was surprised that he did it and that it worked. He's not really a homeopathic remedy kind of guy.

I read something about that too! obviously being pregnant puts a kink in a lot of cleanses that you would normally be able to do.
