Best outlet mall shopping near Ontario?

So Dh and I are going to pop across the border next weekend for 2-3 days.

We could cross either at Buffalo OR Detroit; they are about the same time. We are looking to do some shopping, some eating, and maybe a tour or something if there was anything worth doing in the area.

I know someone a while back suggested we go to Buffalo, and I think we are leaning towards that, but if someone else has a suggestion (I know there are a few places in MI) we're open.

Thanks :)

Re: Best outlet mall shopping near Ontario?

  • Birch Run in Michigan has great shopping and is also really close to Frankenmuth.

Frankenmuth is a lot of fun and they have some great places to eat.

  • Great Lakes Crossing mall just outside of Detroit is now an outlet mall http://www.greatlakescrossingoutlets.com/shopping and I second the PP for Birch Run and Frankenmuth :)

  • I don't know about shopping but are you interested in crossing at Niagara and seeing the falls?

  • I like the Fashion Outlet Mall in Niagara Falls, NY and the Walden Galleria in Buffalo. They are about a 20-30 min. drive apart. The Walden Galleria isn't an outlet, but it has American stores that Ontario doesn't have, and there are often good sales. It has a huge Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) that always has great deals. There are also a couple of Targets close to these malls. And of course, you could always include some sight seeing in your trip (the falls, Niagara on the Lake, etc.).

I think we will do this - I just checked and its about 1 hour closer than Frankenmuth, which is nice in the winter in case the weather turns nasty.

I was also sold on the shoe warehouse :)

Plus it turns out the Sabres play the Canadiens Fri night....Dh is sold!

    THanks, ladies!
