@ followup baby visa pics
So I did decide to get baby girl's visa photo retaken because my hands were on her chest in the first set. I went to the UK home office with a rep who explained to me that it doesn't actually matter because those pics are really just a way to help prevent child trafficking. The picture that went on her visa was one done at the home office during our appointment. Just wanted to give an FYI incase anyone else was going through this.
Re: @ followup baby visa pics
I agree the pictures don't matter a whole lot (DD was only a month and a half in hers!) but I don't like the idea that they are used to prevent child trafficking since the passport is good for FIVE years with that infant photo. Really, someone could use my DD's passport with a completely different four year old and no one could tell the difference (imo).
I think US passports for children under 5 should have to be renewed every 6 months or so. Yes, it's a PITA, but if it is really to prevent child trafficking like they say then updated photos are necessary. Here in Spain children's passports have to be renewed every 3 months or something crazy like that. On the one hand I like that I don't have to worry about renewing DD's passport for 5 years, but on the other hand I feel it makes more sense to renew it more often.
