PR: Rule of Thirds

Okay ladies, for the past 2 weeks our goal was to explore the rule of thirds in our compositions.  Let's see what you came up with!

Next up: Depth of Field (DOF)

A good overview:

Re: PR: Rule of Thirds

  • This week I was exploring using my speedlight as a slave (off camera flash) so I thought I would throw in a little RoT in my composition to use for this challenge Smile

  • Here are mine. Certainly aren't my favorite pictures ever, but when it is 4* in the wind chill, you just snap quickly and get back in the car!

  • a whole extra week and I still didn't get a new pic for this one!

  • Paige - that first one looks like a great spot to do some long exposure shots of the water coming in around the rocks!

Mary - that looks like the south pier!

Kara - haha, it's hard to find time to pick up the camera with a LO around isn't it?!  When I get a few minutes of "free" time, I just want to play with or hold and cuddle with C!

  • Here's what I got and I think I finally had a bit of an a-ha! moment this evening while looking at these pics and my bump pics from this week regarding setting my f-stop.  All my bump pics look OOF to me and I think I'm setting my f-stop too low limiting what comes in focus due to DH's distance from us.  Did I say that right?!

Anyhow, here's my practice shots from the past week with my favorite subject as of late (who doesn't want to sit still for shoots). I shot in Av mode:

I'm still trying to learn action shots with her-

And a landscape I took from our front yard when doing the Two Peas lessons:

  • They are all so gorgeous!  I love looking at everyone's pictures!  I've been too focused on assignments for class (150 pictures between classes is pretty intense) so I'm not sure I'll ever be able to participate.  :(  But I learn a lot just by what everyone else is sharing!
