Gift ideas needed - 25th anniversary and sick grandfather

I could use some suggestions on gift ideas... We're going to a 25th anniversary party for my aunt and uncle this weekend, and I am at a bit of a loss as to what to get them for a gift.  I'm not really sure what hobbies they have, if any, other than that my aunt is a big football fan and they like to travel to the Caribbean and Hawaii... Right now my only thoughts are a nice picture frame or a gift certificate to a restaurant.  I'd like to spend $100 or less.

Also, my grandfather is in the hospital for the second time this year.  Last time, I sent peanut brittle (his favorite), but they've now diagnosed him as diabetic so that's out.  I am sure he doesn't care much about flowers, and he hasn't used the puzzle and sudoku books my cousin sent last time.  I won't be able to see him for another two weeks, so I would like to send something to show we're thinking of him.  He's mostly deaf, so I can't even talk to him on the phone, which sucks.

Any brilliant ideas?  I am feeling very uncreative lately and should really move on both of these soon.  TIA!

  • Not sure how long he is going to be there, but we got my grandmother soft pajamas to wear at the hospital.

  • 25th is the 'silver' anniversary i think.  Could you get a double silver frame, engrave it with their wedding date, put in a wedding picture & then send them a picture from their party for the other slot.

Could your grandfather eat plain nuts?  Every old man I know loves pistachios. I don't know why this is other than I agree they are good.  Does he read at all?
