Heard back from our realtor
They accepted our offer!!! Holy moly!
Apparently meeting the sellers yesterday helped. Our agent said that it sounds like the two offers were close, but that the sellers could tell we were really interested in the property and thought we would be more likely to stick with them through the short sale process. And then, of course, they met Milo. 
So... here we go! Ready, set, wait! LOL
Next up: attorney review of the contract. Then the offer will go to the bank and since it's a short sale, that could take a loooooooong while.
